The Dayton Area Student Branch is somewhat unique in that it is not associated with an individual school. Rather, it encompasses all college-level institutions in the Dayton Area. Currently, this includes Cedarville College, Sinclair Community College, Wright State University, and the University of Dayton. Currently, Sinclair College is the only institution that offers a degree in HVAC&R. However, since HVAC is an application of Fluids, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, and Control, all institutions offer coursework or programs related to HVAC. As a student, if you enjoy the fluid and thermal sciences, then HVAC may be for you. In fact, through the ASHRAE Design Competition, you have an opportunity to compete with other regional schools in a practical, hands-on, design project.

It has been several years since a Cedarville student has been a member ASHRAE Dayton Chapter. We encourage any student interested in fluids, thermodynamics and heat transfer to become a Dayton ASHRAE student member. Perhaps you can continue the Cedarville tradition of student membership. Contact the student advisor to join.

The ASHRAE Dayton Chapter invites any UD student interested in a career in HVAC to join the Dayton Area Student Branch. Prior years have seen as many as ten UD students as members. Since most of our members attend Sinclair Community College, the student branch operates primarily from that college. However, we would like to see more UD students as members. Contact the Dayton Area Student Branch Advisor or the Dayton Chapter Student Activities Chair for more information.

The first president of the Dayton Area Student Branch was a Wright State ME student. Since then, we have have sorely missed the expertise of WSU students. The ASHRAE Dayton Chapter would like to see more WSU students on the membership roster. Call us now!

Student membership is only $16 per year. As a student member, you will receive the ASHRAE Journal and ASHRAE Insights. You are also allowed to purchase a number of publications, including the ASHRAE handbook series, at significantly reduced prices. Contact the listed faculty advisor if you are interested in joining. If there is no faculty advisor listed, contact the Student Activities Chairperson listed above.
